Frequently Asked Questions

  • The site is located in Harkness, in the City of Melton, approximately 40km northwest of Melbourne’s CBD. As one of Australia’s fastest growing regions, the new memorial park is strategically positioned to meet the long-term needs of the area.

  • The memorial park will offer affordable burial and memorial options including lawn, monumental, and directional graves, as well as ash scattering and memorialisation areas. There will also be places for funeral services and events, and outdoor gathering spaces.

  • Construction is expected to begin in the second half of 2025, with early works including tree planting and site preparation. Major construction will commence in late 2025, leading to the planned opening in early 2027.

  • We will open an expression of interest pre-sale process before the memorial park opens. To register your interest now, please email harkness@gmct.com.au.

  • We will offer a variety of options and tiered pricing structure to suit different preferences and budgets. Pricing details will be available closer to the opening of the memorial park.

  • The masterplan has been shaped by extensive community consultation, including input from Traditional Owners, local residents, and cultural groups. We will continue to gather feedback through our online engagement hub ‘YourSay’ and workshops to ensure the park meets local needs as it grows.

  • Yes, the section of Harkness Road leading to the memorial park entrance will be upgraded after the first stage of work is completed. The State Government is also considering upgrades to the Western Freeway between Harkness Road and Christie Road.

  • You can subscribe for regular project updates or email enquiries to harkness@gmct.com.au. We regularly share project updates and opportunities for community feedback through these channels, as well as Facebook and LinkedIn.

  • The site will remain a farm as the memorial park develops. Over time, plans include 20,000+ burial and memorial plots, walking trails, and a ceremonial pavilion with inclusive facilities, a café, and a florist. Visit the masterplan to learn more about our long-term vision for the site.
